Updated! “Important Big Fish Account Update” Email

May 29, 2019 Leave a Comment

Many Big Fish Games players received an email from Big Fish Games Customer Support on May 28th that read the following:

Hello,

Due to government restrictions in your location, the Big Fish Games website and games from Big Fish are not available to be downloaded or played in your region, and these restrictions also prevent purchases.

Big Fish is unable to lift these restrictions, and we apologize for any inconvenience they might cause. For your convenience, your Big Fish Game Club membership will be automatically canceled, and you will receive no further charges for this service.

Thank you,

Big Fish Games

This email was suspicious as many US-based players received it and players assumed Big Fish Games wouldn’t have restrictions in the United States where it is based. It also contained no links, so it did not look like a phishing scam.

After some research, we have been able to confirm this strange email was indeed sent by Big Fish Games, but at this point the representative believed that the email may have been sent to a larger audience than intended. They also stated that “if you have been able to access our site, I do not think you need to worry.”

If you received this email, it’s a good idea to visit the Big Fish Games web site, log into your Big Fish Games account and check the various links under the “USERNAME’s Account” dropdown at the top of the page. If your account seems normal, then as the representative said, you do not need to worry.

Update: Big Fish Games has sent out a follow-up email to accounts that received the email in error:

Hello,

The previous email regarding the Big Fish Games website, game downloads, and Big Fish Game Club membership account update was sent to you in error. Your membership status has not been changed or affected at this time, and you may continue using your account, the website, and all games as before this email was received.

We’d like to apologize for any confusion or inconvenience from the previous incorrect email. If you have any questions regarding your account status, please reply directly to this email.

Thank you,

Big Fish Games

Over 100 Games Removed from the Big Fish Games Catalog

March 29, 2019 14 Comments

Big Fish Games announced to their affiliates that 103 games have been removed from their catalog as of March 29, 2019. This means they are no longer available for sale. Big Fish often removes games due to licensing or other issues, but never before have they removed so many all at once.

Note: when you purchase a game at Big Fish Games, it is yours forever no matter if Big Fish has it for sale in their game catalog or not. To get to removed games that you have purchased, go to your Game Manager and click on the Purchase History link on the left sidebar. There you can see all of the games you own and download any you need.

This is a list of the 103 games no longer available at Big Fish Games as of March 29, 2019:
